Case Communications launch 22.8Mbps Ethernet over copper XLR 550
Case Communications are pleased to announce the launch of their XLR 550 broadband product, which is capable of providing Ethernet services over copper at rates up to 22.8Mbps, using EFM bonding (PAF), with each pair supporting 5.7Mbps.
Latest technology
The XLR 550 uses the latest G.SHDSL bis technology and is equipped with 4 x 10/100 Ethernet ports. The XLR 550 supports both port based and tag based (802.1q) VLANS and double tagging (Q-in-Q), as well as Quality of Service and Class of Service to ensure sensitive traffic such as voice and video is properly supported. The XLR 550 automatically adapts to the best rate on the copper circuit and early tests indicate it has outperformed products using the previous G.SHDSL standard.
Ethernet demarcation
The fast Ethernet interface also allows the XLR 550 to work as a smart Ethernet demarcation device (EDD), providing demarcation between carriers, the WAN and the enterprise LAN, by monitoring network status and operation at the customers site.
Harsh conditions
An extended temperature version of the XLR 550 is also available allowing the product to operate in temperatures of up to 65 degrees centigrade.
Cost savings
Case Communications marketing manager, Jan Corbett said, "The XLR range of products provide the ideal solution for sites without access to fibre and allows higher data transfer rates than BT's LES 10 to take place over inexpensive copper circuits for a much lower costs."
Application
The XLR range of products are ideally suited to police force and local government applications.
