Syncro 24

V26bis Leased Line
Synchronous Modem

Syncro 24 installation

The Syncro 24 is no longer in manufacture.

However Case Communications are still supportng the Syncro 24, and have stocks of the Syncro 24.Case Communications Base Repair department provide repair and support on the Syncro 24.

The Syncro 24 is a leased line or dial-up synchronous modem. It provides fast synchronisation time, and has a high resilience to line noise on low grade circuits. These capabilities allow the Syncro 24 to outperform other types of modem in many situations.

Features

  • Synchronous operation up to 2,400bps
  • Fully compatible with Network 16 (ICF) or Network 6
  • Front panel switches and LEDs for configuration loading, dialling, diagnostics and monitoring
  • Command port supporting extended AT command set
  • Support for V.26 and V.26bis modulation schemes
  • 2-wire half duplex or 4-wire full-duplex operation
  • Suitable for multi-drop applications
  • Selectable for leased line or PSTN operation
  • Autodial and auto answer
  • 12 Factory and 4 user configurations
  • 20 number telephone directory
  • AT command, V.25bis, front panel or control signal (C/DTR) dialling
  • Local loopbacks to verify operation
  • Standalone or Network 16 Rack options for maximum flexibility
  • Integral power supply on standalone unit
  • Network manageable from DomainView Network Management System

Reliable operation

The Syncro 24 is designed for applications demanding the highest standards of reliability. This is achieved by use of the V.26 modulation scheme which provides full duplex operation at 2400bps over 4-wire circuits or half-duplex operation over 2-wire circuits.

Multi-drop operation

In addition to the high reliability offered by the V.26 operation, the Syncro 24 has anti-streaming safeguards making it ideal for multi-drop applications.

Stored configurations

Twelve frequently used configurations are pre-set and can be easily loaded using the front panel buttons. These configurations may be modified, via the modems command port to suit individual requirements and stored as one of four individual user defined configurations.

Command port

A separate command port on standalone is provided to allow configuration and monitoring of call progress without interrupting the main data channel.

Leased line or dial-up operation

The Syncro 24 is capable of working over either a leased circuit or a dial-up circuit. Four different dialling methods are offered:

  • Front panel dialling from the first 8 pre-stored directory numbers
  • Dialling using AT commands
  • Dialling using V.25bis commands
  • Dialling on DTR

Tests and diagnostics

Local V.54 compatible loopback tests are included in the Syncro 24. These tests can be activated either by using the front panel buttons, by software command or from the DTE interface.

Applications

As a dial-up modem the Syncro 24 is ideally suited for micro to mainframe applications. As a leased circuit modem its fast synchronisation time makes it ideal for all multi-drop and point-to-point applications.
