Router Network Cards

PCI 800 WAN Card

Data rate: 52 Mbps per port

Port density: Single or dual

Interface support: E3 or DS3 CSU/DSU single or dual HSSI

The PCI 800 series is a low-cost line of PCI 2.1 compliant WAN adapters used in routers and other products running Linux or Windows. 800 series adapters support one or two full duplex HDLC interfaces at speeds up to 52 Mbps per port.

The PCI 800 series is based on a modular design that features a common base card and different interface modules that support one or two HSSI, DS3 or E3 interfaces. The 800 series is an ideal choice for HSSI, DS3, and E3 applications which require a low-cost high-performance adapter that can support wire-speed performance with average Internet packet sizes.

The PMC-Sierra Freedm8 high-speed synchronous controller presents a full duplex clock and data interface to the front-end modules. The Freedm8 processes HDLC frames, manages frame buffering for the local FIFOs, and transfers frames directly to host RAM via the PCI bus. The Freedm8 uses a link list of descriptors to manage data buffers directly in host RAM.
