Connectivity

Connectivity to the DomainView workstations requires the Sunlink X.25 (V7.0) software package and must use port A on the workstation because it is the only port which supports synchronous communications.

Node status report

The DomainView module will automatically learn the configuration of the Series 8000 packet switch exchange, PSE, chassis. The configuration is then stored in the database. This feature requires PSE version 9 software or latter. However, the lodger cards must be manually added to the configuration display as these are not automatically detected.

Configuration upload/download

The DomainView management system can upload or download configurations for a Series 8000 subsystem. It is possible to store up to five configurations for each Series 8000 subsystem. Once the Series 8000 subsystem is placed on DomainView's network map, the management module will automatically learn the configuration of the subsystem and load it into the database.

Restart operation

A feature in the DomainView management modules allows the operator to restart any PSE or attached subsystem that is installed within the node.

Transparent management

DomainView implements a transparent management window that allows the operator to connect to any PSE for native level management of the device. DomainView's transparent management feature can manage the network via each PSE's node manager, and can connect to the manager channels of the feeder products, such as 8160 and 8225. DomainView can support a very large number of concurrent transparent management sessions.

Line management

DomainView displays the status of network lines. Line status is represented by different colours that are linked to the five fault levels in DomainView. When the management module receives a line failure event the line colour will change to represent the severity of the event. Event pairing is also supported by the management module so that when a closing event is received the line fault is cleared on the network map.

Event pairing

The DomainView management modules supports event pairing. The management module attempts to match line restoral events with line fault events. When successful the status of the line will be restored to a normal display state.

Message window

The message window displays a continually updated summary of all event information collected by DomainView for all the managed nodes represented on the network map.
