Series 8000 is proven over an impressively diverse range of market sectors and applications — this a result of Case Communications' continued commitment to X.25 and attention to customer requirements.

The power, performance and reliability of Series 8000 protects the stability and long-term potential of an organisation's wide area data network. As a result, Series 8000 has achieved global acceptance.

The series

Series 8000 is designed to enable organisations to build and manage private X.25 networks which are both open and integrated.

The 8000 family comprises:

  • Asynchronous PADs
  • Multi-protocol FRADs
  • X.25 switches
  • Integral router

The products range from the 19-slot packet switch to the single slot access unit, and share common hardware and software. A range of protocol and switching options are available as plug-in cards and modules. This allows organisations to start with the minimum configuration and build up as their requirements grow.

All Series 8000 products have integral management capabilities and can be managed centrally as well as locally.

Features

  • Industry-leading reliability
  • Flexible management system
  • Bandwidth top-up over ISDN
  • X.25 and frame relay to 2Mbps
  • Proven success for many applications
  • Standards compliant switching and networking access
  • Integral router providing cost-effective access to LANs
  • Auto-re-route without data loss, based on error rate or link failure

True non-stop communications

Non-Stop Communications is a business critical function. Any break in data communications represents a real cost and major inconvenience. With Series 8000's industry-leading reliability, critical components can be replaced without powering down. It also provides:

  • Mean Time Between Failure of up to 51 years
  • Network availability of 99.9%

Network management

Series 8000 is fully manageable with Case Communication's integrated network management system - DomainView. DomainView is an open and flexible management system which evolves to meet network managers' needs.

Legacy support

For organisations who are unwilling to replace an existing infrastructure Series 8000 offers a cost-effective solution for interconnecting legacy systems while offering access to new technology. Through its range of multi-protocol access devices, Series 8000 adapts to many network environments.

Instant access to LANs

Series 8000 offers an elegant and effective solution to connecting sites through an integral router. This provides cost-effective access to LANs, terminal servers and standalone network terminals.

A secure future

All investment has to be part of a long-term strategy. Series 8000 enables ease of migration to new technologies, and is Frame Relay ready.

Reliability – flexibility – performance

Users demand all these attributes - and 8000 delivers. However, unless the solution is also cost effective, the features alone do not make a business case. Series 8000 is based around a modular system which allows organisations to begin with the minimum configuration needed to meet existing communication needs, and gradually migrate to meet future demands.
