10Gbps L3 Ethernet Switch Overview
The Case Communications R3-24Tx-8S-4SX-RT is a 10Gbps L3 Ethernet Switch with advanced management functionality, IPv4 / IPv6 management with static routes and full line rate forwarding. Routing between VLANS also provides segmentation and flexibility.
Ports
The Case Communications R3-24Tx-8S-4SX-RT is supplied with 24 x 10/100/1000Mbps ports, 8 x 100 / 1000 SFP (Combo) Ports and 4 x 10Gbps SFP Ports.
Hardware Performance
The R3-24Tx-8S-4SX-RT has a 512 Gbps non-blocking backplane and can switch 92.32 Million packets per second, a 512MB of FLASH and 512MB of RAM , ensuring its able to cope with the highest demands.
Layer 3 Routing
The R3-24Tx-8S-4SX-RT supports routing using RIPv1 / v2 & IPv6 RIPng, as well as OSFPv2 and IPv6 OSPFv3 and BGP4 and IPv5 BGP4+. Policy routing and VRRP are also supported
Resilience
The R3-24Tx-8S-4SX-RT supports multiple network redundancy protocols such as STP (Spanning Tree Protocol (802.1D)), RSTP Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (802.1w)), MSTP (Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (802.1s)) and ITU-T G.8032 (ERPS (Ethernet Ring Protection Switching). G.8032 provides sub-50ms protection and recovery switching for Ethernet traffic in a ring topology. Accordingly this ensures that there are no loops formed at the Ethernet layer.
10Gbps L3 Ethernet Switch Management
The Switch can be managed via a Web Browser, CLI, Console, or SNMPv1 / v2C , V3.
The R3-24Tx-8S-4SX-RT supports a system log, restoring of configuration, upgrading the software, configuring the time and a CL as well as remote Telnet Management.
Security
Defence mechanisms on the R3-24Tx-8S-4SX-RT include CPU Protection, (limiting the rate of packets to the CPU) ARP Binding (IP, MAC and Port Bind) and DoS (Denial of Service) defence
The Case Communications R3-24Tx-8S-4SX-RT supports dynamic or static binding for the users, via an IP Address, MAC Address, VLAN or Ports etc.
Network Reliability
Additionally the R3-24Tx-8S-4SX-RT supports ‘Port Isolation’ to prevent communications between two neighbouring devices within the same broadcast domain, which improves network stability. The R3-24P-8S-4X-G also supports ‘Storm Control’ and can suppress broadcast, Multi-cast and unicast storms.
Support for specific ARP inspections can effectively prevent ‘ARP Spoofing attacks’ which can be created by hackers or attackers via ARP Packets.
